Discrimination Based on Modification: Am I Right or Am I Wrong?

laurenmisfortune:

I hear a lot of ‘well, it should be okay for employers to discriminate against modified people in the work place because consumers don’t like it.’ I may be completely off here, please correct me if I’m wrong, because I may be saying this in complete whiteness, but I’m fairly sure that some people don’t like it that people hire people that aren’t white either… So does that when most white consumers didn’t like hiring people of color that it was okay because the costumer is always right?

I guess what it really comes down to is if you really understand why some people have body modifications. It’s hard for me to see myself without my mods. When my mods aren’t in I don’t feel like myself. It’s like I’m someone else. It’s like I’m being erased. And maybe that’s because I’m a privileged white person.

I know I’m an idealist, but really should it matter as long as they do an amazing job?
